Neural control of breathing in pre-clinical models of lung injury, cystic fibrosis, sleep, respiratory failure, and sepsis
Dr. Frank Jacono is Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and Division Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. His program of research is focused on the neural control of breathing in pre-clinical models of lung injury, cystic fibrosis, sleep, respiratory failure, and sepsis. His laboratory investigates biologically determined ventilatory pattern variability with an emphasis on using heart rate and ventilatory pattern analysis to investigate mechanisms responsible for cardiopulmonary behaviors and provide predicative insight into prognosis and reversible pathophysiology leading to recovery, survival, and rehabilitation.
