The 2016 Recknagel Symposium took place at the Department's annual retreat on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Huntington Convention Center in downtown Cleveland.
Three of the Department's second year doctoral students, Michael Babinchak, Yuan Cai, and Nitish Rana, presented on projects from their first year laboratory rotations. Yuan Cai (second from left) won the Recknagel awards for both his research presentation and for academic achievement. The title of Yuan's presentation was "Acetylcholine regulation of dopamine D2 receptor mediated transmission in striatal medium spiny neurons."
The Department established the annual Recknagel Symposium in memory of Professor Richard Recknagel, who was Chairman of the Department of Physiology from 1976 to 1986 and an admired thinker and investigator who took a keen interest in mentoring young students and faculty.
